Why I Code

I’ve always been drawn to work that challenges me. What makes web development exciting is that there’s always something new to learn and problems to solve. If coding was easier I probably wouldn’t enjoy it as much. I’m especially motivated when things get tricky. Getting stuck doesn’t make me want to give up; instead it makes me even more determined to find solutions, even if it takes hours or days. The bigger the problem the bigger the reward.

I always put quality and heart into everything I do, no matter the task. Programming is no exception. I believe the quality of my work reflects who I am, so I want to do my best in every project I take on. It feels meaningful to know I’ve done my best.

I believe caring is at the center of making things better whether it’s about people, work quality or finding better ways to code. My background in social services taught me the value of empathy, patience and how small things matter like celebrating small wins and recognizing effort, not only the results.

I’ve learned that tough challenges become easier to face when we work together with respect, listen to each other, communicate openly and most importantly appreciate each others. It’s important to celebrate our differences, seeing them as strengths rather than weaknesses and recognise that everyone brings something unique to the table.

Earlier in my career I worked as a hairdressing and makeup artist in fast paced environments. I had to think on my feet, lead teams and solve problems quickly whether it was reworking a hairstyle or handling last minute changes on stage. That taught me to stay calm, adapt fast, think quickly and find creative solutions.

Now I bring that same approach to web development combining curiosity, empathy and drive not just to write code but to do it well. I’ve loved every step of my web development journey, even the frustrating parts and will keep pushing forward to one day be a skilled professional.
